It’s got to be happy today for writing. So I brought out the lemon greenery. Yesterday I fluffed our bedroom. Which means that I dusted the shelving and night stands and the log headboard. Those statements do not come close to what really I did. We had dust, and static fit to kill all over the place.
Off came the bedding, sheets, mattress cover, eggshell foam, dresser scarves, and decor. Does anybody know what dresser scarves are? What do you call them? Doilies? Anyway, the static was far too exciting for my comfort. But off it all came, snap and crackle.
I bought a bottle of Mrs Meyer’s fabric softener at Marketplace last week, so this came in quite handy for un-crackling bedding. Besides what’s nicer than a clean bed all the way through! Only four loads or so.
This writing is so clumsy today. Please don’t stress trying to make sense of my mind. I just want to preach a little about bedding. Please use 100 percent cotton sheets if you can. It’s about real materials that breathe. And no plastic going on. They should be at least 500 thread count. 800 is so much better. Plan to pay lots of money for these but then you get to use them for years. Or find these at used shops. I do this, pretty regularly. What do you think of bamboo sheets? I would love to know.
There’s a wool throw that lives at the foot of the bed for a little extra. It’s soft and light. Perfect for one more blanket on winter nights. I pile on the pillows. For looks and comfort both. Which reminds me. I have the guest bed in the little house fixed deep in four pillows. Uncle Amos instructed me that he does not need four pillows. I always find two of them carefully set aside after he leaves. My house keeper efforts at a pretty bed, fit for a King are lost on him, but that’s fine. Makes me smile.
Mostly, though, it’s February around here so it’s more than our bedroom that gets fluffed. I dug out the fish fertilizer and have been feeding the houseplants. Washing rugs.
Oh, and I took the two humidifiers apart and cleaned them with vinegar and elbow grease and hot, soapy water. Back in use with clean steam to help fight the static in our room.
The breezes are carrying the wood smoke past our north window at a pretty nice clip today. Maybe it will snow again soon. Most of February, all of March and April yet to go before we can have green grass again. No wonder it’s time to dust and redo corners. We must somehow live through the rest with healthy indoor vibes.
