Twenty Minutes On Music

In the shop this evening. Elv is working on his tractor. Just a little something that isn’t working just right. So I’m here, too, working on words. I brought my computer with me and pulled up to my desk. First thing was to straighten up the left over papers about taxes. The calendar needed turning. Now we can scribble.

Elv has his favorite playlist going. Celtic Thunder’s All God’s Creatures, The Yellow Rose of Texas, Bluebird, and such like. Sometimes I think we just aren’t “compatible”. He likes his same old songs from forever ago. While I am always on the look-out for another choral magnum opus, so to speak.

One of my people has been saving and planning ahead to go with her community choir to London this summer for a musical tour that I hardly knew exited. I’m so proud of her. What a lot of happy work for her plus the broadening of travel and new places. I am delighted for her.

This has morphed into being about music, so let’s just go with that. When we moved back to the stone house three years ago I made up my mind to play my piano every day and get better and learn more. My mom inspires me by playing her piano every evening as they’re getting ready to settle for the night. When staying at their house for my fall visit; I always feel like a little girl at home as I go to sleep with Mom’s music still playing in my head.

Hymns never grow old for me. Actually, they’re getting more precious. Proof that I’m getting older, you know. I love hymns that finally make sense, even the old well-used ones. They’re the prayers of the needy. And the reminder of God’s promises. And the Hallelujahs of heaven bound hearts. There’s Andrew Peterson’s Is He Worthy. My little niece Jeanie sings I Will Sing of the Goodness of God making the tears come. There are stories behind all of these beautiful pieces, their stories and ours. I could feel that I’m just being sappy except for the Paul’s instruction for Christians to encourage each other with song.

Finishing this up while Elv’s music is telling us that Normal Aint Comin’ Back; Jesus Is, by the Isaacs.

Life is so interesting!
