It’s a perfect summer morning. With garden work to be done. Fun work.
I’m excited about spirea shrubbery. Mom has had white spirea by her front porches for many years and I want to be like my mom in this way as well. Truth is, my spirea ambitions had only gotten me two pink shrubs that live at the Stone house. They’re pretty enough, but they aren’t white. So that’s not satisfactory.
Then Lisl moved on to an old homestead where lilac and spirea had gone rogue and couldn’t be distinguished from random regrowth until blooming time the following spring. She dug up some for me. I have spirea in two places now: in the Stonehouse garden and by the front of the Buck Mt Cabin. Some dreams come true and stick.
