It's been nice Saturday, full of interest. The orchid that Lance brought to me a couple years ago has five buds on. We had a load of elm wood chunks to work up for firewood. It was mostly dry so it had no bark left on it to speak of. But I soon figured out… Continue reading Words for Twenty

Crex Meadows On a Sunday Afternoon In April
Welcome to the local wildlife refuge. We had a very small gathering that Sunday so Lance and Kristine "hosted" a Crex outing for the afternoon and evening. We all got into four vehicles and headed over to Grantsburg. Crex Meadows is the most beautiful spot in Wisconsin in April. Do go over to the webpage. You'll see… Continue reading Crex Meadows On a Sunday Afternoon In April
The Week In Words
Actually, the week started last Saturday instead of thinking in the usual way that it starts on Monday. Or that's just my way of notching my stick, I suppose. Anyway, it's Saturday again. Last Saturday at this time Elv and I four-wheeler-ed up to our lamp-lit cabin and clambered down the snowbank… Continue reading The Week In Words

Idaho Visit And Oddments of Thought
Amy and I flew out to Idaho to see the Skrivseth family for ourselves. We found them just as we expected, taking turns gathering around this famous bar. The favorite meeting place is located at the home of Sid and Ruth Skrivseth, my parents. Each day we ate mom's delicious meals here. Each day someone… Continue reading Idaho Visit And Oddments of Thought
Morning In The Swamp
Sunrise this morning on the way to Elv's job. Canadian geese had settled all along the shore for the night and as we came by, they made V's in the water paddling away. The sun rose an orange ball behind the moving fog everywhere. Lovely November morning...the perfect harbinger to freeze-up just around the corner.
Zinnia N Bee
The perfect distraction. It was chilly, so Mr. Bumble was not moving, literally. He clung motionless during the picking and photographing of the flower. Pick your own moral to the story. I haven't one yet.
Chicago Botanic Gardens 2013
We visited these amazing gardens on our way home from Ryan's wedding. I wanted Amy to see how this was done.Hanging gardens over the entry to the gardens proper. The children and a friend. :)I took this one for you Clark. You will want to go here fully equipped for a year and a day...they sailed away.... … Continue reading Chicago Botanic Gardens 2013

Pots of geranium bloom on our doorsteps. We have had these very plants for five years. This spring when they were set outside, they didn't get their usual trimming...they looked so nice already. I would advise giving plant food to get these kinds of blooms. I am a haphazard plant person, so I can't tell… Continue reading Current Events
Reflections
It is funny what you can do with a phone camera and Picasa. Now anyone can create a magazine worthy picture. Someday, Brad, when you are 35 and everything around you is too big a deal; just come back to this spot and do this again for an hour or two. All the big deals pull… Continue reading Reflections
